Sindh CM Highlights Thalassemia’s Impact on Families, Calls for Blood Donations

On World Thalassemia Day, May 8, 2025, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah highlighted the profound impact of thalassemia on families. He emphasized that the hereditary blood disorder challenges not only the affected individuals but also their families. Murad Ali Shah urged the public to donate blood and raise awareness to prevent the disease. He also announced the establishment of free diagnostic desks for thalassemia and hepatitis at two National Database and Registration Authority centers in Karachi. The Sindh government is promoting premarital screening and conducting awareness campaigns in educational institutions, media platforms, and community programs to combat thalassemia.
