7 years after Disney Bought 20th Century Fox, Marvel Studios has announced an X-Men movie which will be part of their universe rather than a separate story.
The Cast:
Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, the least surprising of the roster considering she had already appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe a month or so before the announcement at D23, in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Jean Grey in Marvel Comics is an Omega-level Mutant with advanced telekinetic and telepathic powers, known for her strong connection to the incredibly powerful Phoenix Force
Kit Connor as Cyclops: the leading star from Heartstopper has no intention of halting his trajectory as a rising star, getting the role of the X-Men leader Scott Summers Aka Cyclops. Possessing the ability to emit powerful optic blasts, controlling it with a specialised visor.
Inde Navaratte as Rogue: speaking of rising stars, with a breakthrough performance in the massively successful Indie Horror movie Obsession, she caught the eye of many studios looking to lock her down for big-picture deals. She is confirmed to play Anna Marie, aka Rogue, who has a touch-based power that absorbs the memories, life force and superpowers of anyone she comes into contact with. She turned down the opportunity to be in Heat 2 with Leonardo DiCaprio in order to be in the X-Men franchise
Maya Boyd as Storm: Broadway star Maya Boyd will be playing Ororo Munroe Aka Storm. Another Omega-level Mutant with the ability to control weather patterns and atmospheric elements.
Christopher Abbott as Professor X: he will be playing a younger version of the powerful telepath, scientist and Founder of the X-Men, unlike the more senior, established portrayal by Sir Patrick Stewart
Adam Driver as Nathaniel Milbury: Famous for roles such as Kylo Ren/Ben Solo in Star Wars and Marriage Story, among others, he will be playing Nathaniel Milbury, aka Mister Sinister. A major enemy of the X-Men in the comics, he is determined to wipe out the line of mutants, using whatever power/ability he can find to do so.
Samara Weaving as Emma Frost: Also known as the White Queen, known for her Omega-level telepathy and a secondary mutation that can turn her body into organic diamond. She has been known to switch between villain and hero in the X-Men comics. Samara Weaving rose to prominence after starring in movies such as Ready or Not and Scream VI.
It is confirmed by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige that this is not the full cast for the movie, this lines up with multiple reports that Charles Melton, famous for roles such as Reggie Martin in Riverdale and as Joe Martin in May December among others is in line to play Dr Henry “Hank” McCoy aka Beast, while the search is ongoing for the man that will play the friend/adversary of Professor X, Eric Walsh Aka Magneto.
Marvel Studios is looking to do things differently, with a fresh perspective, while paying tribute to the Original X-Men in Avengers: Doomsday. They have their eyes on a new era post-Avengers: Secret Wars
