US President Donald Trump was reportedly “pissed off” by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s public criticism of a proposed US sale of F-35 fighter jets to Türkiye, Axios reported on Thursday, citing two White House officials.
According to the report, no meeting has been scheduled between Trump and Netanyahu, despite Israeli media reports that the US president was expected to host the Israeli premier on Monday.
One White House official told Axios that Trump’s frustration stemmed from Netanyahu’s remarks during a Fox News interview shortly before the US president travelled to Ankara for the July 7-8 NATO summit.
A second official said Trump believed Netanyahu had “no right” to intervene in the proposed arms sale to Türkiye.
The report added that Netanyahu has been seeking a meeting with Trump for more than two weeks. Since Trump’s return to office in January 2025, the Israeli prime minister has visited the Oval Office six times.
