Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat on Monday announced that summer vacations in schools across the province would begin on May 22 amid rising temperatures and heatwave concerns.
In a statement, the minister said the holidays would continue until August 23, giving students a break of more than three months. The announcement comes as large parts of the country continue to experience intense heat, with temperatures expected to remain above normal in the coming days.
Last week, the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) warned of higher-than-normal temperatures and rainfall across the province until July.
