KARACHI: A six-member team of Sri Lankan veterinary experts will arrive in Karachi on Friday to examine and treat African elephant Madhubala, whose health has deteriorated at Safari Park.
The team will conduct a detailed assessment and recommend further treatment and medication. Madhubala has been undergoing prolonged treatment for tuberculosis and is also suffering from a foot infection that has affected her mobility.
She collapsed inside her enclosure last month, prompting authorities to seek help from foreign wildlife specialists.
According to KMC, prolonged TB treatment has caused acute weakness and low immunity. She is currently receiving antibiotics as a precautionary measure, while her medical reports have been shared with Sri Lankan wildlife health specialist Dr Buddhika.
Safari Park officials said all possible measures would be taken to improve Madhubala’s condition.
