Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Jordan on Monday condemned recent Israeli attacks and military incursions into southern Syria, warning that the actions threaten regional security and stability.
According to Syria’s SANA news agency, Israeli forces opened fire on civilians while withdrawing from the village of Abidin in the Daraa countryside late Sunday before shelling the area. Israeli aircraft were also reported flying over the Quneitra and Daraa countryside ahead of the attack.
In separate statements, the three countries denounced the Israeli operations as violations of Syria’s sovereignty and international law.
Saudi Arabia condemned Israel’s latest incursions and the shelling of Quneitra and Daraa governorates, expressing its “complete rejection” of the actions and calling for adherence to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. The kingdom also reaffirmed its support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Qatar described the attack as “a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty” and warned that continued Israeli operations would further escalate regional tensions and undermine efforts to restore security and stability.
Jordan likewise condemned the incursions and artillery shelling, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Fuad Majali calling them a “flagrant violation” of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a breach of international law and the UN Charter.
