A Royal Navy helicopter crashed into a field in Devon early Wednesday, triggering a major emergency response and concern for the families of those involved.
British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer described the crash as a “deeply worrying time” as police, emergency crews and military officials continued work at the scene near Sourton Down, close to Okehampton.
Devon and Cornwall Police said emergency services were called to the crash site at Sourton Down at about 3.45am BST. Chief Constable James Vaughan said a major incident was declared after crews arrived at the scene.
The Royal Navy confirmed that the crash involved one of its helicopters and said the incident happened just before 4am on Wednesday, June 3.
