Elections for various bar councils across Punjab are being held today. Polling has begun in most districts, while the Sheikhupura Bar election has been postponed.
Polling has started for the annual elections of the Lahore Bar Association and will continue until 5 PM. A total of 27 candidates are contesting for 8 seats, with a tough competition expected. For the presidency, Adeeb Aslam Bhinder, Shahid Jamal Butt, and Irfan Hayat Bajwa are in the race. A total of 15,851 registered voters will cast their votes.
Five candidates are contesting for the vice president seat. For the Model Town vice president seat, three candidates are competing, while Zahid Mahmood Gill and Imran Olakh are contesting the Cantonment vice president seat. Four candidates are vying for the secretary position.
Asad Abbas, Saminah Basra, and Salman Rahim Khokhar are contesting for joint secretary. Zohaib Khan and Yasir Nazir Padhyar are competing for finance secretary, while five candidates including Arshad Chadhar are in the race for library secretary.
