Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) alleged early Monday that two more sisters of party founder Imran Khan, along with several other family members, had been detained by Punjab Police and taken to undisclosed locations.
The claims followed the earlier detention of Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan, who was taken into custody in Lahore under Section 3 of the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance, 1960, and transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail for 30 days.
PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram alleged that Imran’s two other sisters and members of their families had subsequently been detained.
“Punjab Police have arrested both sisters of Imran Khan, along with their children and the sons of Aleema Khan. They have been placed in an armoured vehicle and are being taken to an unknown location,” Akram wrote on X early Monday.
PTI separately condemned what it described as the “illegal and high-handed action” of Punjab Police, alleging that the detentions represented an abuse of authority, violation of fundamental rights and “political victimisation”.
“Targeting women and children of a political family in this manner exposes the true face of the Punjab Government and Punjab Police,” the party said, describing the action as “illegal, unconstitutional”.
PTI demanded that authorities immediately disclose the whereabouts of those allegedly detained, ensure their safe return and produce them before a court.
Imran Khan’s son Kasim Khan also posted a series of allegations on X. “This is a disgrace,” he wrote at around 2:55am. “Now my Aunts Dr Uzma and Noreen, along with my cousins Shershah and Shahrez have now been abducted as well.”
Kasim alleged that people had entered the homes of his relatives and forced them into vehicles without explanation.
“They have broken into my aunties and cousins houses and forced them into vehicles with no explanation,” he wrote. “No reasons for arrest have been stated. No news has been released as to where they have been taken.”
He described the alleged actions as “criminal behaviour” and “inexcusable”, adding: “The Pakistani people are petrified of their own leaders.”
Kasim later raised concerns about the whereabouts of two of his cousin Shahrez’s children, aged four and six, writing: “My cousin Shahrez’s two children of 4 and 6 years are now missing. There is no limit to their cruelty. Complete disregard for humanity.”
About an hour later, however, he said he had received information that the two children were safe. At the same time, he alleged that two additional cousins had been detained.
“Hearing news that my cousin’s children are now safe,” Kasim wrote. “Meanwhile, two more of my cousins have been arrested. Azeem and Sakeenah. No reasons given. No location given.”
