Pakistan to Host Canada for Hockey Series in Islamabad in February 2027

Jarida Report

Pakistan is set to welcome Canada’s national hockey team for a bilateral series in Islamabad from February 8 to 21, 2027, as part of efforts to bring more international hockey competitions back to the country.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) announced the planned tour, describing it as an important opportunity to strengthen sporting relations between Pakistan and Canada while providing valuable international exposure to players.

According to the federation, preparations for the visiting delegation will be undertaken in coordination with the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination and other relevant federal authorities.

Arrangements will include accommodation, transportation, sporting facilities and security to ensure the smooth conduct of the series.

PHF President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani welcomed the proposed visit, highlighting its significance for the development of hockey in Pakistan and the promotion of international sporting exchanges.

The federation said the series would enable players, coaches and officials from both countries to share experience, develop their skills and strengthen professional connections.

The Canadian team’s visit is also expected to support Pakistan’s efforts to attract more international hockey teams and restore the country’s position as a regular destination for international fixtures.

Pakistan, once among the dominant forces in world hockey, has been working to revive the sport through greater international participation and improved development opportunities for emerging players.

The PHF reiterated its commitment to organising the February series according to professional standards and providing suitable facilities for the visiting Canadian squad.

Pakistan Confirms Participation in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup

In a separate development, the PHF announced on Saturday that it had accepted an invitation to participate in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, scheduled to take place in Malaysia in November 2026.

The federation said the tournament would offer Pakistan’s senior national team an opportunity to compete against international opponents and gain valuable match experience.

Participation is intended to help players strengthen their technical abilities, improve competitive performance and prepare for future international assignments.

The two announcements form part of the federation’s wider efforts to increase Pakistan’s international hockey engagements and support the long-term development of the national team.
