Pakistan Army Targets Afghan Taliban Border Posts Following Reported Cross-Border Firing in Kurram

Jarida Report

Pakistani security forces carried out retaliatory strikes against Afghan Taliban positions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border on Saturday after coming under what security sources described as unprovoked firing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Upper Kurram and Ghozgarhi areas.

According to state media, the Pakistan Army used artillery to target the Topsar post and Shipola base camp in the Upper Kurram sector.

Security sources claimed that the Shipola base camp was destroyed during the operation.

In the Ghozgarhi border area, several Afghan Taliban personnel were reportedly killed in the exchange of fire, while others allegedly abandoned their positions following the Pakistani response.

The sources said clashes were continuing in parts of the border region.

Later, another incident of firing was reported in the Kurram sector, prompting Pakistani troops to respond with heavy weapons.

Security officials claimed that several additional Afghan Taliban posts were destroyed and that personnel stationed at those positions fled during the retaliatory action.

The sources also accused the Afghan Taliban authorities of providing assistance to militant groups, although no supporting evidence was detailed in the report.

Pakistani security officials maintained that the army remained on alert along the border and was prepared to respond to threats against the country’s territorial security.

The reported casualties, destruction of border installations and circumstances surrounding the exchanges of fire were based on Pakistani security sources and could not be independently verified.

No response from Afghan Taliban authorities was included in the report.
