Pakistan to Host 9th OIC Women’s Summit to Advance Empowerment Agenda

Pakistan is hosting the 9th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Women’s Ministerial Conference in Islamabad from July 12 to 13, bringing together delegates from across the Muslim world to discuss women’s empowerment and strengthen regional cooperation.

Delegations from OIC member states have begun arriving in the capital, where they were welcomed by Minister of State Barrister Aqeel Malik, Saba Sadiq, Farah Naz Akbar and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two-day conference will focus on the social, economic and political empowerment of women, while reviewing progress made by member states and sharing national experiences in advancing women’s development.

Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar will chair the conference. During Pakistan’s tenure as chair, the country is expected to reaffirm its commitment to promoting the rights, dignity and empowerment of women across the Muslim world.

The conference is also expected to adopt a joint roadmap aimed at enhancing cooperation among OIC member states on issues related to women’s development and inclusion.
