Pakistan Says It Downs 4 Afghan Drones as Cross-Border Tensions Escalate

Jarida Report

The Pakistan military said on Wednesday it shot down four rudimentary drones allegedly launched from Afghanistan, while Kabul claimed it had carried out airstrikes against alleged Daesh camps inside Pakistan.

The developments come amid rising tensions following last week’s militant attack on a security facility in Karachi and Pakistan’s subsequent strikes on alleged militant hideouts across the border in Afghanistan.

In a statement, the military said its air defence system detected and neutralised the drones launched by Afghan security forces on Tuesday over Balochistan, alleging they were part of Afghanistan’s support for militant groups operating against Pakistan.

The statement warned that any further provocation by the Afghan Taliban would receive a “befitting response.”

Meanwhile, Afghan Defence Ministry deputy spokesperson Siddiqullah Nusrat said the Afghan Air Force had conducted strikes on alleged Daesh camps in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claiming the operation inflicted heavy casualties and significant material losses on the group.
