Pakistan Says 29 Militants Killed in Cross-Border Operation Along Afghan Frontier

Jarida Report

Pakistan said on Monday that its security forces targeted militant hideouts inside Afghanistan following a series of attacks on Pakistani soil, while Kabul claimed the strikes killed dozens of civilians.

In a post on X, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said security forces carried out a well-planned intelligence-based ground operation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, followed by precision strikes against what he described as militant hideouts and safe havens across the border, killing at least 29 militants.

The operation followed Saturday’s assault on a security installation in Karachi, where heavily armed militants killed three paramilitary personnel before security forces killed three attackers and captured another injured. Jamaat ul Ahrar, a splinter faction of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack.

Tarar said security forces also conducted an intelligence-based operation in Bajaur district on Sunday, killing high-value militant commander Khan Farosh, alias Zabal, along with three Jamaat ul Ahrar militants, while injuring several others.

He added that, based on credible intelligence, three targets in Afghanistan’s eastern Paktia, Paktika and Kunar provinces were destroyed in precision strikes, resulting in the deaths of 25 militants, according to Pakistan.
