Pakistan Military Operations Target TTP in Khyber Region

Jarida Report

New reports in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the Lower Dir district indicate that the Pakistani military has been executing precise strikes on Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) fighters. According to local media, the crackdown has greatly weakened the presence of TTP, and various militants have been neutralised or even forced to withdraw. Analysts indicate that the move might be attributed to the changing dynamics among the militant groups, as speculation goes on that space is being cleared to allow Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) activities to continue in the area.

The military has not officially verified the information but termed the activities as being under its continuous counterterrorism policy. The development reflects the precarious security situation in north-western Pakistan, where militant extremist groups are still changing loyalties and evolving.
