Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain was shifted to a hospital in London late Sunday after his condition worsened, the party confirmed. According to a statement issued by MQM on Sunday night, physicians carried out an initial assessment of Hussain’s health and decided to admit him for further medical care.
Hussain, who has been residing in the UK since 1992 after going into self-imposed exile, later acquired British citizenship. Despite living abroad, he remained politically active for years, frequently addressing supporters in Karachi through televised and audio messages from London. The party said Hussain was taken to hospital on Sunday evening due to poor health, where doctors, following a preliminary examination, admitted him for treatment. Medical staff reportedly administered injections and placed him on intravenous fluids due to extreme physical weakness.
