Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill has recalled 35-year-old striker Josh Magennis for October’s World Cup qualifiers against Slovakia and Germany. The Exeter City forward, who has 12 international goals in 82 caps, returns after nearly a year out following hip surgery.
O’Neill said Magennis adds much-needed “experience and physicality” up front, alongside several other players also back from injury. Northern Ireland currently chase qualification with two crucial home fixtures at Windsor Park.
