Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Tuesday held talks with Army Commander Rodolphe Haykal on the military’s upcoming responsibilities following the US-brokered framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel aimed at ending the conflict.
According to a statement from the Lebanese presidency, Haykal briefed Aoun on the outcomes of his recent visits to Türkiye and the United Kingdom, which focused on strengthening military cooperation.
The two also reviewed the country’s security situation and discussed the army’s future missions in light of the outcomes of the Lebanese-American-Israeli negotiations and the framework agreement intended to end the war in Lebanon.
