Karachi Protest Honors Detained “Madleen” Activists; Civil Society Demands Global Solidarity

Civil society members gathered at Karachi’s Teen Talwar monument on June 11 to honour activists aboard the Gaza-bound aid ship Madleen, detained by Israeli forces while attempting to break the Gaza siege  . Among those detained was climate activist Greta Thunberg. Protesters raised slogans of “Free Palestine,” floated hopes of global support, and criticized the Muslim world’s inaction, calling the conflict one of land and power—not religion  . Activists highlighted that the young volunteers risked much to deliver aid, with Pakistan yet to join international calls. The rally reinforced international pressure for solidarity and accountability.
