K-Electric (KE) has clarified that no changes have been made to the eligibility criteria for consumers under the Protected Category, urging customers to rely only on official sources for information and disregard unverified claims circulating on social media.
The utility said eligible residential Non-Time-of-Use (Non-TOU) consumers who exceed 200 units of electricity consumption in a single month do not permanently lose their Protected Status.
According to KE, affected consumers may regain their Protected Status by limiting their monthly electricity consumption to 200 units or less for six consecutive months, provided they continue to meet the applicable eligibility requirements.
The company advised customers to consult its official communication channels for accurate information regarding electricity tariffs, consumer categories and billing policies.
Separately, K-Electric urged residents to exercise caution during the ongoing monsoon season, particularly in areas prone to waterlogging, and to follow safety guidelines to reduce the risk of electrical hazards.
