Irish Media Outlets Evacuated After Bomb Threats Sent by Email

Jarida Report

Several media organisations in Ireland were evacuated on Friday after threatening emails were sent to broadcasters and news outlets across Ireland and Britain, prompting a police security operation.

Ireland’s national public broadcaster, RTÉ, was among the organisations targeted, with the alarm raised on Friday morning after the threatening messages were received.

Presenters and other employees were evacuated from RTÉ’s Donnybrook headquarters in Dublin as a precaution while Irish police responded to the threat.

Officers conducted searches of the premises with the assistance of specially trained sniffer dogs to check for potential explosives.

The security alert also disrupted broadcasting operations, forcing RTÉ to temporarily switch to pre-recorded programming.

However, the broadcaster’s Today programme on Radio 1 continued airing from an outside broadcasting vehicle, allowing the show to remain on air despite the evacuation.

In a statement, RTÉ emphasised that protecting its employees and other personnel was its primary concern.

The broadcaster said regular programming would resume as soon as possible following consultations with police and the completion of necessary security checks.

The threats were reportedly distributed to multiple media organisations in Ireland and Britain, although the full number of affected outlets was not immediately confirmed.

Authorities had not announced any arrests or confirmed the discovery of explosive devices at the time of the report.
