Iranian Delegation Arrives in Qatar as US-Iran Negotiations Reportedly Make Breakthrough

Jarida Report

An Iranian delegation, including a deputy to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, has arrived in Qatar for talks following a reported breakthrough in indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington, according to a Qatari newspaper.

Citing an Iranian source, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported on Saturday that the delegation was in Doha to facilitate further engagement with Qatari mediators.

The visit followed intensive discussions between Qatari negotiators and Iranian officials in Tehran, which reportedly produced progress towards reviving negotiations between Iran and the United States.

According to the report, the discussions enabled the Iranian negotiating team to accompany the Qatari delegation on its return to Doha.

“Negotiations with the US side are taking place indirectly through the mediator, not directly,” the Iranian source told the newspaper.

Sources familiar with mediation efforts led by Qatar and Pakistan also indicated that an American delegation was expected to join the diplomatic process in Doha.

The sources suggested that direct discussions between American and Iranian representatives could take place in the Qatari capital, although no such meeting has been confirmed.

The reported diplomatic progress could open the way for renewed negotiations based on preliminary understandings concerning Iran’s nuclear programme, freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and potential financial incentives for Tehran.

The proposed arrangement could also involve China and Russia acting as guarantors, according to the newspaper.

While the developments suggest renewed diplomatic momentum, the details remain based on unnamed sources, and neither Washington nor Tehran has publicly confirmed a final agreement.

The latest initiative highlights the continuing diplomatic efforts of Qatar and Pakistan to facilitate negotiations aimed at resolving the US-Iran conflict.
