Iran has communicated its conditions to mediators for returning to negotiations aimed at ending the war with the United States, Iranian security official Mohsen Rezaei said in an interview cited by Al Jazeera.
Rezaei said Tehran’s conditions include an end to the war on all fronts, the unfreezing of Iranian funds and the lifting of the naval blockade.
He added that consultations with Qatari and Pakistani mediators were continuing and that Iran was awaiting a response from US President Donald Trump.
The comments come as diplomatic efforts continue to find a possible route towards ending the conflict.
Separately, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi sharply criticised his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot, following Barrot’s accusations concerning human rights violations in Iran.
In a post on X addressed to Barrot, Araghchi invoked France’s colonial history in Algeria and accused Paris of remaining silent over the deaths of Iranian children during the conflict.
“1.5mn Algerians were slaughtered by France in their War of Independence. Less than 1/10 of them have been recorded by Paris, which refuses any apology for its colonial crimes,” Araghchi wrote.
“Stop your crocodile tears @jnbarrot. Your silence when the US massacred our schoolkids said it all,” he added.
Araghchi was referring to the strike on a school in Minab, which, according to the casualty figures cited in the report, killed 168 people, including 120 students and 26 teachers, and wounded more than 110 others.
