Venezuelan acting President Delcy Rodriguez oversaw the signing of an energy cooperation agreement on Saturday between state-owned oil company PDVSA and a subsidiary of French energy group TotalEnergies, according to the presidential press office.
The agreement was signed at Miraflores Palace in Caracas by PDVSA President Hector Obregon and Francisco Javier Rielo, TotalEnergies’ senior vice president for the Americas, representing TotalEnergies E&P New Ventures.
Venezuelan authorities did not immediately disclose details about the scope, financial terms or specific projects covered by the agreement.
Rodriguez has previously said Venezuela offers reliable legal conditions for attracting new investment under the Organic Hydrocarbons Law, which was approved earlier this year.
The agreement is the latest in a series of oil-sector deals involving multinational companies and Venezuela’s new government following the US removal of former President Nicolas Maduro in January.
