Egypt FM says international force should be stationed along Gaza yellow line to verify ceasefire

Jarida Report

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has joined the discussion titled The Gaza Reckoning: Reassessing Global Responsibilities and Pathways to Peace. He said consolidating the ceasefire, moving forward as soon as possible to the second phase of the ceasefire plan and flooding Gaza with aid, as well as preparing for the territory’s reconstruction, should be the main priorities. “Winter is already coming, and people are suffering – no shelters, there’s nothing in Gaza due to the Israeli systematic destruction,” Abdelatty said.

The minister said the main mandate of the Board of Peace should be channelling and mobilising the funds for the reconstruction of Gaza, as well as monitoring the spending. As for the International Stabilisation Force, Abdelatty called for its deployment on the ground “as soon as possible” because “Israel is every day violating the ceasefire and claiming the other side is the one who is violating it.
