A key meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore approved the design of the Gujranwala Mass Transit System, with a detailed briefing given on various aspects of the project.
The chief minister directed that every area of Gujranwala be connected to the metro system through feeder buses to ensure convenient and integrated public transport facilities for citizens. She also approved the inclusion of two tunnel sections in the project to reduce traffic pressure, along with a principled approval for 17 to 19 kilometers of underground track.
Under the project, a 31.5-kilometer transit system will be constructed from Ghakhar to Aimanabad, featuring 24 stations, including two underground stations. Depots will be established in Garjakh, Chan Da Qila, and Gondlanwala.
