CPPA Seeks Rs0.82 Per Unit Electricity Tariff Increase Under Fuel Adjustment

Jarida Report

A request to raise electricity tariffs by Rs0.82 per unit for consumers across Pakistan has been submitted to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority under the monthly fuel cost adjustment mechanism.

According to NEPRA, the petition was filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency for May 2026 fuel cost adjustments.

The regulator has scheduled a hearing on June 30 to examine the proposal.

Officials said that if approved, the increase could place an additional burden of around Rs12 billion on electricity consumers nationwide.
