Emraan Hashmi-starrer Awarapan 2 has passed its first major weekday box-office test, earning an estimated Rs9 crore nett on Monday and taking its four-day domestic collection to around Rs90 crore.
The film recorded a drop of roughly 65% from Sunday, when it collected Rs26 crore, but continued to show resilience across several important markets following a strong opening weekend.
The sequel opened with Rs22.5 crore on Friday, before climbing to Rs32.5 crore on Saturday. It collected another Rs26 crore on Sunday, giving it an opening-weekend total of Rs81 crore.
Trade estimates suggest the film, starring Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani, is now on course for a commercially successful theatrical run. Its controlled production budget is also expected to strengthen its overall profitability despite the substantial weekday decline.
Crossing Rs200 crore nett remains possible but would require the film to maintain momentum well into its second week. With relatively limited competition from other Hindi releases, its performance over the coming days will be crucial in determining its eventual lifetime collection.
The sequel to the 2007 cult film Awarapan has benefited considerably from nostalgia surrounding the original. Audience response has also highlighted the emotional elements of the new story, particularly scenes involving Hashmi’s character Shivam and a young child, along with flashbacks featuring Shriya Saran as Aaliyah.
The performance already places Awarapan 2 among the strongest box-office outings of Emraan Hashmi’s career.
Its estimated domestic collections currently stand at Rs22.5 crore on Friday, Rs32.5 crore on Saturday, Rs26 crore on Sunday and Rs9 crore on Monday, bringing the four-day nett total to approximately Rs90 crore.
