Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced on Wednesday that they have received Third Country Operator (TCO) approval for flight operations in the United Kingdom and now will get the official permission to return to British skies next month. In a humiliating instance this July, the UK removed Pakistan from its Air Safety List, allowing Pakistani airlines to now apply to operate flights in Britain. The development came after the UK Department for Transport concluded an aviation security ins­pection at Islamabad Inter­nat­ional Airport on Thursday, declaring Pakistan’s security arrangements “satisfactory and in line with international standards”. Now that the TCO certification have finally been received, the national carrier announced that it would now be allowed to operate direct flights and carry not only passengers but also cargo.

During a meeting with Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the IMF, the prime minister of Pakistan stated that Pakistan was steadily meeting its International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme commitments, but pleaded the lender to take into account the recent flood damage in their upcoming review for the country. 
This took place on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York. 
The massive flooding in the country has struck both the rural agricultural heart and industrial centre for the first time in decades, causing billions of dollars in damage while there being a shortage, exports and an overall fragile economic recovery.

A massive blast inside a Pakistani Taliban (TTP) compound in the Tirah Valley area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa killed at least 24 people on Monday. Witnesses report that the explosion took place in an area where explosives and bomb-making materials were kept in proximity to civilian houses. Several women and children were among the dead, generating renewed anger about the militant group’s utilization of populated areas. At a scrap shop in a corner of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mardan district, police has reported an explosion of a hand grenade which ended up killing three people, on Tuesday. 
 District Police Officer (DPO) Zahoor Babar Afridi reported that police has gathered evidence from the site of the explosion and they were further investigating the matter. According to Mardan Rescue 1122, the injured have been identified as 40-year-old Abbas, 17-year-old Saeed and 24-year-old Amrad. The injured were immediately given first aid and rushed to Mardan Medical Complex, Rescue 1122 said.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued a pardon that led to the activist being released from prison in Cairo.
