Chinese Premier Li Qiang held a meeting with the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Thursday, which is a timely move toward achieving the objective of cooperation in the face of U.S. tariffs that are changing the landscape of international trade. Li also urged the EU to go against the increasing trends of protectionism and he presented that they can collaborate in technology and green energy. Von der Leyen, in his turn, stressed the necessity to control digitally and exchange knowledge with China. The two presidents presented the meeting as a strategic response to the aggressive tariffs policies of Washington and analysts pointed out that the meeting was one of the efforts of Beijing to win over European allies in a bifurcated economic environment.

The drug safety authority in South Korea announced that it would look into controversial comments by U.S. President Donald Trump, who in recent days proposed that there should be a connection between Tylenol, autism, and vaccines. Medical authorities have dismissed the claims arguing that they are baseless, and have expressing concerns of spreading misinformation. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in Seoul announced that it will seek information provided by pharmaceutical companies and international health organizations in order to determine whether such assertions can confuse the general population and harm confidence in vaccination. Authorities emphasized the fact that this review is precautionary, not a support of the statements made by Trump. Medical societies across the globe have reinstated that there is no scientific evidence linking Tylenol or vaccination to autism terming the reports as hazardous to worldwide health campaigns.
