Thousands of people went to the streets in the support of Palestinians in the continuing Gaza clash, and large cities of Italy, such as Rome and Milan, also protested on Thursday. Peaceful protests ended up in confrontations among the protesters and the police. Officials of local government said over 60 police had been injured, and dozens of protesters had been arrested. The Italian government condemned the brutality and called it a sadistic exercise of solidarity. Rather, protest planners believed that the police were excessively violent, which sparked violence. The protests reveal the hard political faults in Italy, where the masses are increasingly becoming vocal on the issues of foreign policies. Further deterioration is feared by analysts who believe this will put pressure on the government of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

The reports highlight that the relaxed regulations would only apply to exports and that stringent measures would be taken against abuse. According to the government, the reform is to create new opportunities to the small Indian exporters. Critics, such as the local retailers have warned that it might offer undue advantage to large platforms. The bill is yet to be approved by the cabinet.

On Thursday, government workers in Sindh organized a massive protest in Hyderabad over the proposed pension reforms by the provincial government. On August 6, a joint investigation was carried out by The Guardian newspaper, +972 Magazine, and Hebrew-language outlet Local Call. This report REVEALED that the Israeli military’s Unit 8200 used Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing platform to store phone call data obtained through mass surveillance in war-torn Gaza and the occupied West Bank. 

In response to this United States tech giant Microsoft has cancelled some services it provides to the Israeli military over the valid concerns that it is violating its terms of service by using the firm’s cloud computing software to spy on millions of Palestinians, the company’s vice chair and president Brad Smith confirmed. Smith wrote in a Thursday blog post that the company had “ceased and disabled a set of services” to a unit within the Israeli Ministry of Defence.

The earthquake occurred at 8:17am PKT today, with its epicentre in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan at a depth of 195 kilometres, at a latitude of 36.51 degrees north and longitude of 70.98° east.
 The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported the magnitude of this earthquake was 5.5, while the recent earthquake that shook and shattered Afghanistan was of magnitude 5.9.
