Google Wallet Officially Launches in Pakistan for Digital Payments

Jarida Report

Google has officially launched Google Wallet in Pakistan, offering users a secure and convenient platform for digital transactions. This app allows users to store payment cards, loyalty cards, and boarding passes on their Android devices, facilitating seamless in-store tap-and-pay, online checkouts, and easy access to travel documents.

At launch, cardholders from several banks—including Bank AlFalah, Bank of Punjab, Faysal Bank Noor, HBL, Jazzcash, Meezan Bank, and UBL—can add their cards to Google Wallet for use with Android phones or Wear OS devices wherever contactless payments are accepted. Integration with additional banks, such as Allied Bank, Easypaisa Digital Bank, JS Bank, and Zindigi, is forthcoming.

Beyond payments, Google Wallet supports storing boarding passes from airlines like Batik Air and Thai Airways, providing real-time updates on departure times and gate changes for a smoother travel experience. The app also emphasizes security by employing tokenization, which uses a device-specific alternate card number and dynamic security codes for each transaction, ensuring users’ financial data remains protected.

Farhan Qureshi, Google’s Country Director for Pakistan, highlighted that this launch supports financial inclusion and unlocks economic opportunities, reinforcing Google’s commitment to Pakistan’s digital future.

To get started, users can download the Google Wallet app from the Google Play Store and follow the on-screen instructions to add their payment cards and other digital items.
