Israel Launches Fresh Airstrikes Across Southern Lebanon Despite US-Brokered Agreement

Jarida Report

Israeli forces carried out fresh airstrikes, explosions and machine-gun fire across southern Lebanon early Saturday, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA), despite an existing US-brokered security framework between the two countries.

The reported operations targeted several locations in the districts of Nabatieh, Bint Jbeil and Marjayoun, while Israeli drones were observed flying over parts of southern Lebanon and Beirut.

In Nabatieh district, Israeli warplanes struck an area between Nabatieh al-Fawqa and Kfar Tebnit. A separate airstrike targeted the outskirts of Baraachit in Bint Jbeil district.

In Marjayoun district, Israeli forces reportedly carried out an explosion in the town of Tallousa, while a drone flew at low altitude over neighbouring communities.

The Lebanese news agency also reported that Israeli forces opened machine-gun fire from the direction of Khiam towards agricultural land in Ibl al-Saqi.

Additional Israeli airstrikes targeted an area between Adshit al-Qusayr and Taybeh.

In Tyre district, Israeli drones were reported flying at low altitude over the city and surrounding towns, extending towards both banks of the Litani River near Qasmiyeh.

An Anadolu correspondent also reported continued Israeli drone activity over Beirut’s southern suburbs on Saturday morning.

The latest military operations come despite a US-brokered framework agreement signed by Lebanon and Israel in June and subsequent diplomatic efforts to resolve security disputes.

The attacks also followed US-sponsored military and technical discussions between Lebanese and Israeli representatives in Tampa, Florida, on October 20–21.

Those talks concluded without an announced breakthrough or a joint statement, leaving significant security disagreements unresolved.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or a comprehensive assessment of damage from Saturday’s operations.
