Yemen’s Houthi group claimed responsibility on Monday for two ballistic missile attacks targeting Saudi military personnel and weapons storage facilities in the southern Yemeni provinces of Aden and Lahij.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree announced the operations in a statement published on social media platform X, claiming that several ballistic missiles had struck military installations in both provinces.
According to Saree, the attacks targeted positions in the Salah al-Din area of Aden and the Al-Wahat area of Lahij, where Saudi forces and military equipment were allegedly stationed.
The spokesman asserted that the missiles successfully hit their intended targets, causing substantial casualties and damage to military infrastructure.
He claimed the strikes resulted in “dozens of dead and wounded” and caused “the destruction and incineration of a number of vehicles and weapons depots.”
Saree further alleged that the targeted military positions and equipment were operating under the supervision of Saudi officer Badr al-Harbi.
The reported casualties and destruction could not be independently verified, and no immediate confirmation from Saudi authorities was provided in the statement.
The Houthi announcement came just hours after the group launched a separate ballistic missile towards Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh.
The Saudi-led coalition said its air defence systems had successfully intercepted and destroyed the projectile before it reached its intended target.
The two developments mark a further escalation in reported missile activity involving the Houthis and Saudi-led forces.
While the Houthis have claimed significant damage from their strikes in southern Yemen, independent confirmation of the extent of the losses remains unavailable.
