ISLAMABAD: Differences have emerged between the federal government and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) over proposed legislation concerning economic and tax reforms, despite ongoing talks on parliamentary cooperation, sources said on Sunday.
According to sources, the PPP has raised objections to certain proposed laws, while legal teams from both sides continue discussions on legislative coordination.
The party has expressed reservations over legislation affecting provincial matters, arguing that laws related to provincial autonomy should receive prior approval from the Council of Common Interests (CCI).
PPP sources alleged that the government was deliberately delaying the approval of certain proposed laws through the CCI.
They further claimed that the government intended to pass some legislation directly through Parliament despite the objections raised over the required procedure.
The differences have complicated efforts by the two sides to reach an understanding on the proposed legislative agenda.
