Civil Servants Directed to Declare Foreign Nationality Within 90 Days

Jarida Report

ISLAMABAD: The government has directed civil servants to declare their foreign nationality status and provide details of their dependents’ citizenship and travel documents within 90 days, ARY News reported on Thursday.

The Establishment Division has issued an office memorandum to all ministries and divisions regarding the implementation of the Foreign Nationality Rules 2026.

Under the directive, public servants must disclose information about foreign citizenship, dual nationality, foreign spouses and dependents. They are also required to provide details of their dependents’ foreign nationalities and travel documents.

The Establishment Division has issued a prescribed proforma for submitting the declarations and instructed all ministries and divisions to collect and provide the required information about their officials.

The memorandum also requires civil servants to declare whether they are married to foreign nationals.

Earlier, the government had directed civil servants to submit the declarations within one week. The Establishment Division warned that failure to comply with the instructions or submission of false information could lead to departmental action.

According to the memorandum, providing a false declaration would be treated as misconduct, with non-compliant officers liable to face proceedings under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020.

The government has also indicated that legal action could be taken against officials who fail to comply with the directive.
