Health authorities in Rawalpindi have reported nine confirmed dengue cases and no related deaths so far this year, according to surveillance data released by the District Health Authority on Saturday.
Health facilities across the district have screened 4,339 patients, of whom 4,010 were classified as suspected dengue cases. The latest epidemiological report said one suspected patient remains in hospital, while no confirmed dengue patients are currently hospitalised.
Authorities have intensified efforts to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, deploying 1,400 specialised surveillance units, comprising 985 indoor and 415 outdoor teams.
The teams have inspected more than 4.88 million residential properties and nearly 1.69 million outdoor locations across Rawalpindi district.
Dengue larvae were detected at 157,530 homes and 22,767 outdoor locations, leading authorities to chemically or physically eliminate a total of 180,297 breeding sites.
According to health officials, the highest concentration of positive vector samples has been recorded in areas of Rawalpindi Cantonment.
Authorities have also stepped up enforcement of anti-dengue standard operating procedures. So far this year, 2,543 FIRs have been registered, 652 non-compliant commercial and residential premises sealed and 2,119 challans issued.
Fines totalling Rs2.568 million have also been imposed for violations of dengue-prevention regulations.
Health officials said surveillance and field inspections would continue at 17,859 registered hotspots across the district as authorities seek to limit dengue transmission during the seasonal risk period.
