ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the government is focused on providing talented and deserving Pakistani students with access to modern, quality education on the basis of merit.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Thursday to review progress on the establishment of Daanish University.
The prime minister said the university would provide talented young Pakistanis with opportunities to pursue world-class education and enhance their expertise in emerging fields.
He said Daanish University was being developed as a centre of excellence in technology, equipped with advanced facilities for education, research and innovation. The institution, he added, would seek to become a prominent technology hub in Pakistan and the wider region.
Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that admissions would be conducted strictly on merit to ensure equal opportunities for deserving students.
Officials briefed the meeting on progress regarding various directives issued by the prime minister for the university’s establishment. The meeting was informed that 185 applications had been received for different faculty positions so far.
The meeting was further told that a talent hunt programme had been launched for students currently studying in the second year of FSc and A-Levels, with the aim of selecting students for admission to Daanish University’s Virtual School.
