ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has again declared former MNAs Zartaj Gul, Sahibzada Hamid Raza and Abdul Latif ineligible to contest elections after they failed to submit their statements of assets and liabilities for the 2024-25 financial year.
The ECP said the three would remain ineligible until they submit the required Form-B under Section 137 of the Elections Act, 2017. The restriction applies to general elections, by-elections, Senate elections and local government polls.
The commission had previously issued orders against the former lawmakers, while Gul and Raza have also faced separate disqualification proceedings stemming from convictions in May 9-related cases. In July 2025, an anti-terrorism court in Faisalabad sentenced more than 100 PTI leaders and workers, including Gul and Raza, to prison terms of up to 10 years.
The latest ECP action is specifically tied to the failure to file asset declarations rather than those criminal convictions. The restriction can therefore be lifted once the required financial statements are submitted.
