QUETTA: Pakistan’s security forces killed 11 militants in separate intelligence-based operations in Balochistan’s Kharan and Washuk districts, according to the military’s media wing.
The Inter-Services Public Relations said the operations were conducted on September 6 and 7 after intelligence indicated the presence of militants in the two districts. Eight were killed in Kharan after security forces intercepted a group that had attempted to establish a roadblock and disrupt local traffic, while three more were killed during a separate raid on a hideout in Washuk.
Security personnel also recovered 2.9 tonnes of explosives that the military said were intended for use in improvised explosive devices. Sanitisation operations were continuing in the area after the raids.
ISPR described the militants as belonging to what the state terms “Fitna al-Hindustan,” a designation Pakistani authorities use for Balochistan-based militant groups they accuse India of supporting. India has repeatedly rejected Pakistani allegations that it sponsors militancy in Balochistan.
