Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Friday called for an end to the months-long war with the United States, saying Tehran should seek to conclude the conflict while it remains in a position of strength.
“It is better that we bring the war to an end now as we are in a position of power and dignity,” Pezeshkian said during a meeting with doctors.
The Iranian president claimed that international opinion had shifted in Tehran’s favour during the conflict. He accused Washington of attacking civilian infrastructure in violation of international norms.
“The whole world acknowledges our victory,” Pezeshkian said, alleging that the United States had “attacked our schools, hospitals and infrastructure.”
His remarks came as Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned Washington’s plans to intensify sanctions against Tehran, describing the measures as “economic terrorism” and “crimes against humanity.”
“The perpetrators and instigators of these sanctions are deserving of trial and punishment for committing such heinous crimes,” the ministry said in a statement carried by Iranian state media.
The latest statements come amid continuing tensions between Tehran and Washington, with efforts to secure an end to the wider regional conflict yet to produce a breakthrough.
