JI Sit-In Enters Second Day, Traffic Diversions Announced Around Sindh Governor House

Jarida Report

Traffic police issued a fresh advisory on Monday as Jamaat-e-Islami’s protest against the petroleum levy continued for a second consecutive day outside the Sindh Governor House, disrupting traffic on several major roads in central Karachi.

JI workers and party leaders remained at the protest site, with JI Karachi chief Munim Zafar also participating in the sit-in.

Authorities said Fawara Chowk and Aiwan-e-Sadr Road remained closed because of the demonstration, prompting traffic police to divert vehicles to alternative routes.

Motorists approaching Fawara Chowk are being redirected towards Deen Muhammad Wafai Road, while vehicles coming from Zainab Market are being diverted towards Saddar.

Additional traffic police personnel have been stationed around the protest site to regulate traffic and assist commuters affected by the road closures.

The sit-in has caused congestion across the surrounding area, with increased traffic reported near Governor House, Shaheen Complex, Sultanabad, PIDC and Fountain Chowk.

Traffic pressure also remained particularly heavy on roads immediately surrounding the Governor House as the protest entered its second day.
