Banks and financial institutions across Pakistan will remain closed for three consecutive days from August 14 to August 16, combining the Independence Day public holiday with the regular weekend.
According to a circular issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Friday, August 14, will be observed as a nationwide public holiday to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day.
The holiday will be followed by the regular weekend on Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16, resulting in a three-day closure of bank branches and other financial institutions.
The State Bank of Pakistan and the Pakistan Stock Exchange will also remain closed during the holiday period.
ATMs, Online Banking to Remain Available
Despite the closure of physical branches, customers will continue to have access to essential banking facilities throughout the three days.
The SBP said ATMs and digital banking services will remain operational, allowing customers to conduct routine transactions through online and mobile banking platforms.
Normal branch-based banking operations are expected to resume on Monday, August 17.
