Celebrity blogger and entertainment commentator Perez Hilton remains in critical but stable condition after being hospitalised following a self-harm incident broadcast on TikTok earlier this week, according to an update from his family.
In a statement published on Hilton’s website on August 8, his family said the 48-year-old had suffered significant blood loss and additional injuries, warning that his recovery was expected to be a lengthy process.
Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira Jr., continues to receive medical treatment in Florida. His family said he has been able to spend time with his mother and sister, although his communication remains very limited.
He has not yet spoken publicly about his condition or the circumstances surrounding his hospitalisation.
The family also appealed for privacy, asking members of the public and media not to approach their Miami residence while Hilton continues his recovery.
According to an earlier family statement, Hilton’s sister, niece and children had been at the residence shortly before the livestream incident.
The latest update comes days after Hilton was taken to hospital following the disturbing social media broadcast, which prompted an emergency response from local authorities.
