New details have emerged in the investigation into the murder of Mir Raza Ali, with investigative sources saying traces believed to be acid were detected on the front of the shirt he was wearing.
According to sources, part of the shirt around the chest area was burnt and torn, prompting investigators to send the clothing for forensic examination along with other evidence collected in the case.
The shirt was among samples submitted by Medico-Legal Officer Dr Usama for testing at Karachi University, but sources said the forensic examination has yet to be completed.
Investigators are also awaiting analysis of ballistic-related residue and marks on the shirt, which could provide further evidence about the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death.
Sources said samples collected during the initial post-mortem examination were sent to Karachi University and the Sindh Forensic DNA and Serology Laboratory, but reports on those samples also remain pending.
The examination of the shirt is considered particularly significant because of the burning, tearing and other marks found on the garment, according to investigative sources.
The new investigation team is expected to review the outstanding forensic evidence as it continues its inquiry into Mir Raza Ali’s murder.
