Board of Peace envoy Nickolay Mladenov on Monday urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to halt military operations in the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli media reports.
Israel’s Channel 12, citing an unnamed source, reported that Mladenov and Board of Peace senior adviser Aryeh Lightstone met with Netanyahu and called on Israel to stop its strikes in Gaza, saying it had committed to do so under US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan.
Israel’s public broadcaster KAN also reported that Mladenov had arrived in Israel for meetings with senior Israeli officials.
Meanwhile, a political source quoted by Israeli media said Israel would not withdraw from its current positions in Gaza and would continue to act against what it described as threats to its citizens and soldiers. Israeli media said the statement originated from the Prime Minister’s Office.
On Friday, the Board of Peace and President Donald Trump announced an agreement to move forward with the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire, with the board stating that Hamas had accepted a detailed roadmap. Israel has not officially commented on the proposal.
Despite the announcement, the Israeli military has continued operations in Gaza. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 28 Palestinians have been killed since Friday.
The ministry says more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 174,000 injured since the war began in October 2023. It also alleges that, despite a ceasefire that took effect on October 10, 2025, Israeli operations have continued, killing 1,250 people and injuring 4,110 others.
The ministry further accused Israel of continuing to restrict the entry of food, medicine, medical supplies, shelter materials and prefabricated housing, leaving Gaza’s 2.4 million residents, including about 1.5 million displaced people, facing severe humanitarian conditions.
