The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has accused federal and provincial ministers of violating election laws by announcing development projects during the election campaign in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In a letter addressed to the Chief Election Commissioner, PPP AJK President Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin alleged that development announcements made during the campaign breached both the law and the election code of conduct.
Yasin said federal and provincial ministers were also using government resources to support election campaigning.
He further alleged that campaign activities carried out under official government protocol violated electoral rules and urged the Election Commission to take immediate notice of the alleged breaches.
According to the letter, all candidates and public office holders should be required to comply with the election code of conduct. It also called on the electoral watchdog to take steps to prevent any influence on the electoral process through the use of state resources.
