Suspect Arrested in Lahore Family Deaths Case as Police Probe Alleged Poisoning

Police have arrested a suspect accused of supplying the poison allegedly used in the deaths of a woman and her three children in Valencia Town, Lahore, as the investigation into the case continues.

According to investigators, traces of the suspected poison were recovered from a nearby garbage disposal site, while the individual believed to have obtained the substance has been taken into custody for questioning.

Police said there is currently no evidence linking the woman’s husband to the deaths.

Investigators said preliminary findings suggest there is a 90% probability that the woman poisoned her children before consuming the substance herself. Police believe the victims may have eaten poisoned ice cream, though officials stressed that the final determination will depend on forensic findings.

Authorities said further details are expected once the forensic examination is completed.

Earlier, police registered a murder case under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code following the deaths of the woman and her three children under mysterious circumstances.

The case was registered on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Zaigham Abbas.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the circumstances indicated that the four family members had been killed, although police said the exact cause of death and motive would be established through a detailed investigation and forensic analysis.

The victims were identified as 15-year-old Rehan, 12-year-old Arisha, 11-year-old Arsal, and their mother, Alina.

Forensic teams collected samples of food, kitchen utensils and other evidence from the house to determine whether poisoning was involved. Investigators said halwa, rice and curry had been prepared at the residence on the day of the incident, and the food samples have been sent to a laboratory for analysis.
