A 40-year-old flower seller was killed and his four-year-old son injured after a speeding double-cabin vehicle mounted a pavement in Defence Phase 6 of Karachi, police and rescue officials said.
The incident occurred near the Khayaban-e-Bukhari traffic signal, where Khadim had been resting with his two young children after spending the day selling flowers.
According to police, the vehicle veered off the road, struck the family on the pavement and continued moving.
Khadim died at the scene, while his son Zeeshan sustained injuries. A second child escaped unharmed. The injured boy and the deceased were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for treatment and legal formalities.
Police said the driver transported the injured child and Khadim to the hospital before fleeing the scene.
Authorities added that the vehicle was not displaying a registration number plate and that efforts are underway to trace both the driver and the pickup truck involved in the incident.
According to investigators, Khadim was a resident of Nasir Jump in Korangi and earned a living by selling flowers with his children at traffic signals in the Defence area. Police said the family had been resting on the pavement after finishing work for the day when the collision occurred.
