Lebanon reported Israeli airstrikes in the south of the country on Saturday after the Israeli Army issued evacuation warnings for more than 20 locations, including the city of Nabatieh, ahead of planned operations.
According to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency, Israeli strikes targeted several areas covered by the evacuation notice, including the villages of Rihan and Sujud, as well as other locations not included in the warning.
The agency reported that a strike in Rihan killed a local official.
An AFP correspondent in Nabatieh said the city was largely deserted and reported artillery shelling in the area overnight and throughout Saturday.
A day earlier, the National News Agency reported explosions and artillery fire near the Ali Taher Hills overlooking the city.
